2017 was a year of changes!

If you’ve been to Rota in the last few years, you’ve seen the amazing work we’ve been able to accomplish when our community gets excited and motivated to work on a common goal. We love our little Latvian oasis at Rota, and we know you do too!
And we can’t do it without your help!
Our next talka / volunteer event is scheduled for Sept. 29 – Oct. 1. The objectives are to get the finishing work done in the Zelta Auns bar so it’s ready for the fall events, as well as hit some other much-needed maintenance items like repairing the front porch. No matter your skill set, we’ve got a project ready to go.

October 21st – 23rd: Rudens Svētki – a fall festival celebrated Latvian-style. More information to follow soon on our Facebook event page!

Latviešu Kaŗa Invalīdu Apvienība (LKIA) savā mītnē ROTA ir darbojusies pāri par 54 gadiem. Apvienība var atskatīties uz sekmīgu darbību gan organizēšanas, kā arī sabiedrības un palīdzības laukos.
ROTA pēdējos gados turpina izveidoties kā sabiedrisks centrs un mūsu darbība ir bijusi ļoti aktīva pēdējā gadā. Kā pēdējos gados, divreiz gadā tiek uzņemti Kapu Svētku apmeklētāji un gadskārtēji tiek rīkoti Pavasara un Rudens Svētki un „Zelta Bumbas” volejbola turnīrs. ROTĀ pēdējā gadā notika divas talkas un rudens talkā atvietoja ROTAS nama jumtu, kā arī ūdens notekas caurules, pamatu bojājumi tika laboti un lieli remonti tika paveikti divās vannas istabās, divās viesu istabās un ūdens cauruļu iekartēs. ROTAS labvēļi un talcinieki ziedoja visus materiālus un darba spēku. Kopsummā ziedotie materiāli un darba spēks pārsniedza $30,000 vērtību. Īpašu pateicību ROTAS valde izsaka Edhard Corp., Helmutam Elsis, Joe Madden, Edgaram Silovam, Romaldam Linartam, Irēnei Aizstrautai un visiem pārējiem kas veica milzīgu darbu ļoti lietainā pirmā 2015. gada oktobŗa nogales talkā. Pēdējā gadā ROTĀ arī notika virtuves grīdas atvietošana, galvenā iebraukšanas ceļa un kanalizācijas remonti. Pašlaik tiek paveikti svarīgi remonti lielās mājas kamīna skurstenim un tiek atvietotas ūdens piepiegādes līnijas.
Rakstam Jums lūgt atbalstu ROTAS uzturēšanai, kā arī tās sabiedriskam darbam. Šogad tiks ievietota piemiņas plāksne pieminot latviešus kas krita Afganistānas karā starp 1979. un 1989. gada kuriem bija spiests dienēt Padomju Savienības karaspēkā. Piemiņas plāksne ar 53 vārdiem tiek gatavota un tiks ievietota Katskiļu Brāļu Kapos pavasaŗa Kapu Svētkos.
Plānojam nākamo talku kad ceram paveikt vairākus labojumus ROTAS pagraba klubā un turpināt uzlabot viesu istabas un modernizēt to iekārtu. Labojumi ir gan lieli, gan mazi un arī spējam sabiedrisko atbalstu. Viss prasa līdzekļus un tādēļ prasām jūsu atbalstu caur mūsu rīkoto izlozi par labu ROTAI. “A Slice of Home” – an Old World Style Eastern European Dinner Party
Rota is pleased to announce that we’ll be teaming up with our good friends and family Tamas Szabev, Krista Doyle and Ieva Doyle to offer you a wonderful night of Old World style Eastern European food and merriment!
Come visit Rota, enjoy the scenic late autumn views and break bread with friends new and old! We plan to offer outdoor activities during the day time hours (weather permitting), and for supper we will serve up a three-course meal paired with imported Eastern European wine. Later on, the bar will be open downstairs with refreshments, music, and games.

Starters: Latvian Pīragi and freshly baked bread & spreads
Wine: Egri Bikaver (Hungarian red table wine “Bull’s Blood”)
First Course: Jokai Bableves – a Hungarian bean soup with sausage and sour cream
Second Course: Hearty stuffed cabbage rolls with herb-infused sour cream; Maple-glazed roasted root vegetables; and cucumber-tomato salad
Dessert: Almas retes (Apple strudel) and Latvian Kliņģeris (Crumb cake with saffron and raisins)
